Why Revit?
Revit is a commercial building information modeling (BIM)
software by the company Autodesk. It's generally used by architects,
structural engineers, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers,
designers, and contractors.
Why revit important?
Before construct a building we can make a model on Revit to see the durability and strenght
the building. and also make a 3D model of that building to present 3D view how the building
looks.
Also make total building cost with the help of Quantity and scheduling
Revit advantages?
-In revit we can model a builing with proper dimension
- Also provie detailing of door, window, and component
- Also make a schedule/quantity and costing of different parts of the building
like door, window, wall, component.
REVIT is divided into Three part
1. Revit Architecture
2. Revit Structure
3. Revit MEP(Mechanical Electrical plumbing)
In revit we are working on two different template
1. Model - Project
2. Family - Block
Revit Structure
Model- for creation of project
file extension (.rvt)
Family- component of project or block
file extension (.rfa)
model - .rvt

Graphical user interface
*Properties browser-
The Properties palette is a modeless dialog where you can view
and modify the parameters that define the properties of elements in Revit.
When you start Revit for the first time, the Properties palette is open and docked above
the Project Browser on the left side of the drawing area.
*Project Browser-
The Project Browser shows a logical hierarchy for all views, schedules, sheets, groups,
and other parts of the current project. As you expand and collapse each branch,
lower-level items display.
On working space we have a elevation which is use to see building
from different direction like EAST, WEST, NORTH, SOUTH
the first we have make a column
to go structure tab and pick a column and place where you want to place
Q- How to load more shapes of column
Go to or click on column
- load family
- libraries
- choose metric/ imperial (imperial for inch and feet / metric for mm and meter)
- Structural column
- Concrete/precast
Special types of column

goto modify
select aligned
select centre of the first column and then click on second column which you want to align

if you have a plan and want to draw column and beam of that then you
need to make grid to draw columns in a position.
To draw a grid
select grid
Draw grid with the help of line or pick line and also define the offset value
Also draw in curve grid
after place grid if we want to place column on grid intersection
Firstly we need to select all grid and then
goto At grid and finish
Q:- How to create level ?
Goto Elevation
by default two level show
to add more level goto level
then draw level by line or offset pick
Q- How to create opening in wall for Door/window?
Goto Elevation
Goto wireframe
select wall
goto Edit profile
Floor:-

Q:- How to copy column beam floor etc.
Ans:- Select the object/all object
goto copy to clipboard
paste -- Aligned to selected level
Q- How to change the size of column beam or floor thickness?
Select the object which you want to change parameter
Goto Edit Type
Duplicate the object ( because predefined parameter not affected )
Change lenght breadth or anything you want to change

and goto shape editing options
- modify sub element
select point give the offset value
add point

Goto Insert on main menu
link revit
Choose arcitectural file
positioning- Auto center-to-center
open
-After linking the file
-goto Elevation Select whole structure by the box
-goto filter

Apply -okay
press delete
Goto Collaborate
- Copy/moniter
- Select link
- click on building
-copy
-select multiple
- select whole str. by the selection box
- select filter
- check levels only
-Apply - okay- finish near multiple button
click on finish

Goto main menu
view
- plan views
- floor plan
- selct all level
- then click okay
